UKTV Play: A Catch-Up Service That Excels Only in Fits and Starts
UKTV Play offers a reasonable workload of shows from Dave, W, Yesterday, and Drama. It’s pretty good when you just need to get up to speed on those episodes you miss during the week, or if you just want to binge an entire series. There’s a mix here of comedy, documentaries, and entertainment that would appeal to everyone.
This can be hit-and-miss, however. While generally strong, the content library is blighted by an unreliable app with too much buffering and frequent crashes. The volume of advertising can also be excessive and rather intrusive, interrupting the viewing experience. Even so, UKTV Play stays a serviceable option for those who want free on-demand content; it still doesn’t give the feeling of a thoroughly seamless, enjoyable viewing experience.
