Food Network: A Banquet of Sensations

The Food Network has undisputedly become the place for food for viewers across the world. Its various shows run in a mouth-watering array for each palate and skill level. Viewers can take virtual food tours across the world, learn new techniques of cooking, and get inspired by the ingenuity of some of the finest chefs in the world—all from their living rooms. Somehow, this channel is good at turning food into great entertainment and making cooking easy and fun for all people in the process.

This puts a rising concern in the glare of all that culinary artistry for the channel’s increasing dependency on competition-based reality programs. While these types of shows undeniably gain high ratings, some viewers do long for a return to the roots of the channel, where cooking was more about art and education. In addition, the indulgent, and often unhealthy, recipes raise questions about the channel’s responsibility regarding the promotion of balanced diets.
