BBC Three: A Pioneer in Digital Media
BBC Three was the first channel to go completely online and become a digital-first channel. It was a bold step into the young audience, trying out a few new formats. Now, after being turned into an online channel, it has been more experimental. BBC Three blends in a diversity of drama, documentaries, and comedy, breaking out of the mold most of the time. Focusing on subjects and issues relevant to young people, it has grown a very engaged following. And while the shift to online only was pretty problem-ridden, this did prove that BBC Three could adapt and thrive in the new digital age.
